Richard Giometti and Nancy Giometti Tomz are brother-and-sister co-authors who discovered their passion for writing children's books later in life, publishing their first title in their seventies. Their stories follow Lucy, a bright and curious young girl, and her loyal canine companions, Winslow and Rocky, as they explore the magic woven into everyday moments — especially during the holiday seasons. Humor runs through every story, making each book a genuinely fun read-aloud experience for children.
Inspired by their own childhood in Chicago, where Rick, Nancy, and their sister Lori grew up surrounded by strong family traditions and a deep love of animals — especially dogs — each book blends humor, heart, and meaningful themes. Kindness, environmental awareness, and the joy of giving are gently threaded through every adventure.
Their debut book, The Last Pumpkin Rule, introduces readers to Lucy's unforgettable Christmas journey, where she is chosen by Santa's elf and a very special pumpkin to learn the art of feeding Santa's reindeer and getting them ready for their Christmas Eve flight. It's a story rooted in wonder, tradition, and the belief that small acts of kindness and caring can make a big difference.
Together, Rick and Nancy create stories that entertain, inspire, and celebrate the values that shaped their own lives — inviting young readers ages 3 to 8 to join Lucy, Winslow, and Rocky on adventures filled with laughter, learning, and love.
Writing background
Rick and Nancy grew up in Chicago alongside their sister Lori, in a household built on family traditions, big holidays, and a house that always had a dog in it. Those traditions became the raw material for the Lucy books.
They write together the way they grew up together — one starts a scene, the other finds the joke in it, and Lucy, Winslow and Rocky carry it the rest of the way.
