Synopsis

Autumn is over and one lonely pumpkin is still sitting on the porch. Lucy is told it has to go — until an elf arrives with news: there is one last rule about pumpkins, and Lucy has been chosen to keep it.

What follows is a journey from her own back door to the reindeer barn, where Lucy learns what the reindeer eat, why it matters, and how a forgotten pumpkin becomes the most important meal of the year. Winslow and Rocky come along, mostly to help, occasionally to make things worse, and always to make children laugh.

By Christmas Eve, Lucy understands the rule — and so does every reader who gets there with her.
